Well, this has been a busy old week. As I’m typing this I’m sitting in my (clean) bed polishing of a BRGR delivery because I’m snotty and congested and ill and my womb is physically throbbing and god I need to lie down and continue feeling sorry for myself. But alas, I can’t. I have two essays due this week which is getting me started on all my deadlines as from here on out I have something due every week, rounding it off with three essays including a 5000 word one in the six weeks time.
So despite all of that academic woe spinning around my head 24/7, I have found a lot of time to go out and eat this week. I had coffee on Monday with Lorna, dinner out on Wednesday night followed by the cinema and dinner out again on Saturday night. Busy busy!
I’m shaping up for another busy week but excitingly I’m heading home on Thursday lunchtime for a weekend at home and I’m super excited to see several of my favourite people in the world and my dog, because she is bloody best. Here’s the Little Things …
Offshore | I’ve frequented another coffee shop in Woodlands and Offshore is lovely. I stopped by on Monday with my friend Lorna for a coffee and a catch up (except I had a hot chocolate as Monday was a very bad day). It has such a laid-back vibe, lots of people working solo on laptops or reading, a delicious smell of coffee and some quiet background music. The big windows on one side give a view of the river Kelvin which looked perfect for staring out of when you are sitting on your own. I definitely think I’m going to head on Sunday to do some university work.
New Look Coat | I snapped up one of those long coats last December and loved it, bloody loved it. I haven’t worn it this year yet and I finally wapped it out this week. So far my favourite way to style it up is with my Fat Face dungarees and my Stan Smiths.
Criminal Minds | One of my favourite TV shows is back for its thirteenth season and god, I’m so excited. They finally wrapped up the Mr Scratch storyline in the first episode so it is dealing with a whole new bunch of psychopaths and this show is too good. I thought it would be too different without Morgan and Hotch but it is a good different.
Primark Gingerbread Candle | During my large shopping spree on Friday, I found myself in Primark looking at all the candles and I got wooed by a gingerbread scented candle. It was only £3 and wasn’t the strongest scent but for its price tag, it wasn’t bad at all. I look to Christmassy candles for bringing a little magic into my life earlier than December.
Chicken Teriyaki Donburi | I went to Wagamama for the first time in actual years on Wednesday eve with the girls for dinner and what I had, the aforementioned dish, was so tasty. Due to the tapas style serving, my dish arrived first and I did feel slightly piggy when I had almost finished by the time Tori received hers. It was deliciously sticky and the pickled ginger was divine.
I did try ambling with the chopsticks but I was making a fool of myself so went in with a fork (and a spoon to scoop out the last of the rice, I have no shame). I think I’ll make learning how to use chopsticks one of my resolutions for 2018. We specifically chose Wagamama as they have just launched a new vegan/vegetarian menu and there was SO much choice – it was seriously impressive!
The Snowman | It isn’t the worst film I’ve ever seen and I wasn’t disappointed I spent money on going to see it despite the reviews. It was more jumpy than actually scary and it had a good back story to the killer (I like that).
The scenery in Norway was beautiful and Michael Fassbender was super good in it so I would recommend if you like him as an actor! I did spend some of it watching from behind my hands as I hate being made to jump but I didn’t figure out who the killer was until they wanted you to figure it out which is a big thumbs up in my opinion.
Pick N Mix | No, you spent £4.17 on Pick N Mix at the cinema. I’m a tiny bit ashamed but I haven’t had Pick N Mix in years and I practically filled the whole bag with strawberries, cherries and cola bottles but so worth.
Zizzi | We went for pizza on Saturday evening and a little gossip (naturally) where I had a humble Margherita pizza followed by a banana and chocolate calzone. Tori had the vegan calzone for dessert too and I have to say, hers looked a lot tastier than mine. It had berries in it which is always a winner for me.
Changing My Bed | I changed my bed sheets this week which is v exciting. I’m wanting to eventually have a few sets of white bed sheets as I think they look super chic and fresh so it felt really nice to get them on my bed again.
My current set up is a white striped set from Primark with a plum coloured sheet as it is a lot more practical than a white one. I also added a couple extra blankets and a cushion and changed up my bedside table area so I’ll be doing a little room update in the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that appearing on the blog.
Style Icons | I bloody love clothes and styling and putting things together but I never have the confidence to wear the things that really sing to my soul. It’s both a combination of having no confidence in the sense people will laugh at me and in the sense that I think I’m too fat or have the wrong body shape.
But after a morning of catching up on YouTube, I watched a whole host of videos from Chloe Plumstead, Megan Ellaby and Lily Melrose who are my big three style heroes. I swear to god I dressed like them on the regular. I think I’m just going to have to keep working on it and just build up the courage to do what the f*ck I want …
