7 beauty products to try in 2017.

As a few of you *might* of gathered, I had a bit of a beauty melt-down at the end of 2016 and ended up shelling out on practically a whole new make-up bag.

Sorry bank balance.

I kind of just had a bit of a crisis where I hated everything about my body and my face and just needed to make a change. I was sick of my foundation, tired of my eye products and couldn’t abide my eyebrow thingy-majigs anymore. So I did something about.

(Side note: my appalling diet may have had something to do with the self hatred stage).

I don’t have £20 to shell out on every single product in my make-up bag and I currently own nothing from MAC, Urban Decay or any of the other big beauty brands. I mean I would like too, but even I have my spending limits.

Instead this is all drug-store beauty products which don’t cost more than £15 each aside from one product which I bought in Sephora in Barcelona because I got overwhelmed with how swish the store was ok. Soz not soz.

No7 BEAUTIFULLY MATTE LIGHT FOUNDATION £14.50

I bought this during a sneaky Boots haul in November after deciding I didn’t like my current one, Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, anymore. It made me look like a tangerine and that was not the look I was going for.

I think at the time I was studying and that’s why I ordered online instead of going to a shop and checking with shade matched me best but somehow, thanks to the beauty gods, I absolutely nailed it with Cool Ivory.

Or maybe it’s just because I’m super lazy and mmmm online shopping <3.

It is the best foundation I have ever owned (and also the priciest, wild) and provides amazing coverage, a dewy look, is super light and is quite affordable.

SLEEP MAKEUP EYEBROW STYLIST £6.49

Eyebrows give me the fear. Yes it is 2017 and I have still not mastered a good brow look.

I’ve used a plethora of products from pencils to palettes but this is the only product which I feel makes my brows look almost good enough for Instagram. It’s super easy to use, is a really good match for my brows (I have it in Dark which is just a smudge darker than my natural colour) and it’s a steal.

Although I did see a few pictures of me in Prague and man, my brows looked like slugs. I think that was just my bad handling and not the product as on other occasions this has not happened. I’m definitely going to be turning to Pinterest and YouTube to learn how the fuck to do my brows this year lol.

KAT VON D TATTOO LINER £16

The most expensive make-up product I have ever bought. It cost 20€ from Sephora in Barcelona and I bought it because the Sephora in Barcelona is thee most beautiful Sephora I have ever been too. Of like the 4 I’ve been too. I just had the urge to buy something because duh, Sephora. And it was before Kat Von D actually launched in the UK so I felt mega swish when I pranced back to Glasgow with this in my luggage.

It is soooo easy to use, lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and is super super dark. I love it. I will definitely repurchase when it runs out because it is worth the money. It’s worth the hype. Thank you Kat Von D for this great eye-liner.

COLLECTION PRIMED & READY PRIMER in COOL ROSE £3.99

I’m sure there are better primers in the world but for it’s humble £3.99 price tag, this chap is well, a champ. It also smells of roses which is nice and fun and fulfils my basic bitch needs.

It provides a really even base layer and does a mighty good job at holding my foundation on my face for a long period of time. Which really is delightful.

And did I mention it smells of roses?

NYX TURNT UP! in FLUTTER KISS £6.50

This was my first ever NYX product and is probably one of my favourite lipsticks. I could have included a mega bright and sassy and HELLO COOEEE ME OVER HERE fave but instead I went for this humble nude.

It’s nude without being boring. It lasts all day. You don’t have to worry about getting it in on your chin and looking like a giant tit for the rest of said day. And it’s affordable.

SEVENTEEN DEFINE & CONQUER CONTOUR KIT £5.99

I’ve owned this product for so long and as you can tell, it gets a lot of love. I bought it in 2015 and then hid it in the bottom of my make-up box for ages gathering dust, because, well, I was terrified of contouring.

I still am a bit scared of contouring and I am in no shape or form a contouring goddess. Far from it. But this product does make it a smidgen easier to at least try.

It even comes with a handy guide but alas, that is long gone. It’s easy to use, the mirror is super good and the shade is really good. Not to OTT and won’t make you look like a giant dumbo whilst trying to look like Kim K.

Score: 8/10

MAYBELLINE BROWDRAMA SCULTPING BROW MASCARA £4.99

I *think* this was my first brow product?

It was bit of a panic buy when I realised I wanted to do something with my eyebrows (my sister had probably just insulted them) and it’s stuck with me ever since. We’ve been through think and thin, a collection of other brow products, have me and this little guy.

It’s my comfort product, I always wap it on at the end to give my brows a final touch and attempt to hold them in place. The brush is really good and the colour works with almost anything. I’ve tried lots of different brow products and it has gone with everything I’ve used so I can’t imagine that it won’t go with whatever you are using.
