four ways to style a dark roll neck.

My love affair with the dark coloured roll neck started around three years ago. I’m pretty confident you can wear them with practically everything – and I will try my best to. They are the perfect wardrobe staple for the colder months as you can easily throw them underneath to keep you cosy without distracting from the rest of your outfit.

As an ode to my favourite winter wardrobe staple, I thought I’d pull together four outfits that I’d wear, all held together by the roll neck, either black or dark grey. They can put a casual spin on sequin dresses that no longer need to be reserved for party season or dressed up with heels and blazer for drinks on a night out.

I usually pick up my roll necks in Primark because they are super cheap at about £6 but the quality is obviously not sensational. Other cute roll necks I’ve spotted online however this season include this one from Warehouse, a thermal style from M&S and a bodysuit version from Pretty Little Thing.

pink check + white heeled boots.

Pretty Little Thing White Flare Heel Boots £35 | Boohoo Check Pinafore £18 | Missguided Camel Button Coat £45

I have this Boohoo pinafore stored in my Saved Items on Boohoo waiting to purchase. I love the Clueless aesthetic and it will work just as well in summer with a black cropped tee underneath as it does now with a black roll neck. White boots are a style trend I really want to get on board with and I love the flared heel of these ones from Pretty Little Thing. Finally, I wear my camel coat with EVERYTHING. They are the ultimate winter wardrobe staple.

dressed down evening dress.

Topshop Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket £49 | Quiz Bottle Green Lace Sequin Midi Dress £36.99 | New Look Black Flared Heel Boots £27.99

I love wearing things that are multi-functional and don’t need to be kept for one occasion. This Quiz dress is very formal but with a black or grey roll neck slung underneath and a biker jacket, it can easily be worn during the day. I love black ankle boots and this pair from New Look are literally tempting me. Another alternative would be to wear with white trainers such as Stan Smiths.

red + leopard print.

Monki Faux Leather Belt £10 | Public Desire Leopard Print Heeled Sandals £29.99 | Weekday Black Skinny Jeans £30 | ASOS Red Tailored Blazer £50

I am finding autumn incredibly cold at the moment and wouldn’t think twice about wearing a jumper to a bar to keep out the cold. Pair with black skinny jeans, leopard print heels to bank in on the animal print trend and faux Gucci inspired belt to bring it all together. Wearing a bright coloured blazer adds a huge statement splash of colour to an otherwise dark outfit.

clashing prints.

Pull & Bear Mustard Trousers £15.99 | Boden Leopard Print Trainers £75 | Matalan Striped Mac £14

I love the mustard colour of these Pull & Bear trousers as it screams autumnal tones. Clash your prints in this outfit with a bold striped mac and more toned down animal print trainers.
