10 Little Things #5

Just checking in with you all, hope your weekend is going swimmingly. Mine is (almost literally due to the tremendous amount of rain we’ve seen over the last couple of days, it truly is a proper Scottish “summer) and tomorrow is finally moving day, hurrah! Very excited to get home from work tomorrow to unpacking all my boxes and finding all the things I’ve been missing such as my candles, my books and making my bedroom look cute.

It’s been a busy old week of work and going to the gym as I am now a gym goer (let’s see how long this lasts) and I’m very sad the weekend is almost over – I could do with another couple of days to be honest! Tonight we are going out for dinner as a celebration for the big move and tomorrow we will be off – can’t really believe we are moving out of my childhood home. Let’s home next week is just as lovely. Anyway, this week’s little things ..

It’s Saturday night and I’m about to commit to a night of binge watching Sherlock because Love Island isn’t on and I’m not sure what to do about it. I’m currently on episode 2 and cor blimey, I forgot how blinkin’ amazing this show is. I think I’m in for a wild night. I also have to pick my sister up from her night out and I’m a) v worried she is sick in my new car and b) v excited for the McDonald’s I’m definitely going to have in the 24 McDonald’s in Berwick.

This week has been different to previous, I started a job (yay!) and the task of moving house from the farm to our new digs has begun so it is all very exciting. Only one week and one day left in this house I’ve called home for the last 19 odd years so it is pretty emotional but I’m very excited to get moved and start decorating and playing around with my new room! But on with this week’s little things ..

It has been another week of moseying around in pyjamas (and thinking about getting dressed) but I can finally say I am starting my summer job tomorrow (hurrah!) so maybe next week things will be different. I spent this morning having breakfast with my parents at my local garden centre where I had the loveliest pancakes with bacon and syrup, honestly it was so damn good.

Superlatively Rude Summer School started this week so I’m at least doing something with my summer (even if that something does involve me sitting in my bed watching a video lecture of Laura Jane Williams in my pyjamas) and I am so excited about it already. I really think I’m going to learn lots about writing and how I want my writing to work, counting down the days till Wednesday already!

Since toning down weekly favourites and realising that not everything in a round-up post has to be big and flashy and super cool, the words have been flowing and this little things series has been very easy to write so far. I’m very into blogging and writing and words at the moment. I’ve got a lot of spare time as I still haven’t started my summer job so I’m spending a lot of time on my own during the day with just my book or laptop for company and I can’t lie, it has been blissful.

Seeing as tuning into my writing sides and actually writing words down on pages of late, I’m super bloody excited for Laura Jane William’s Superlatively Rude’s Summer School to start up next week. So excited. I’ve tweeted about it a couple of times which the lady herself has replied too (!!) and I am ecstatic for it to begin.

I love writing little weekly write ups for two reasons. 1) I love posting more than twice a week but the old brain cells just don’t want to do too much thinking sometimes so voila, a solution and 2) it is super important to realise and appreciate the little things.

I’ve played around with several variations of this type of post: monthly favourites, five friday things, five friday favourites, monthly edits. You get the picture. I always get bored and think the name I’ve chosen sucks so I usually give up after a few attempts. This time feels different however: it doesn’t need to be big funky paragraphs, I’ve decided this time it can be as simple as a single sentence.
