Hopefully, all being well, this post will be coming live to you from Stansted airport where I sit patiently waiting to board my flight to Rome and trying not to spend all my money in Starbucks. Because where has time gone? It only feels like yesterday I was in Stansted with my two best pals on our way home for a long summer and now I’m back again.
And it feels like I’ve just blinked and two months or so has shot by. I can’t believe how quick this summer has gone – it definitely true that time goes quicker as you get older. I remember when I was in secondary school, the six weeks of summer felt like the longest time and now I have just under that left between me and fourth year.
It is mad to think we are now a good chunk of the way through July and a good chunk of the way through blinkin’ 2018. Every day seems to speed past me in the blink of an eye at the moment and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Glasgow has been blessed with the same heatwave the rest of the UK is experiencing and whilst my chub rub might be trying to slow me down, it isn’t succeeding.
I decided to stay in Glasgow over the summer as I just knew returning to the Scottish Borders would make me a bit unhappy. It just isn’t what I want and whilst I have the flat here and my friends it just seems ridiculous to do that. I obviously miss my parents at tonne but thanks to my life situation at the moment I’m able to pop back every couple of weeks for a few days and they’ve been up to Glasgow a little bit as well.
Have I mentioned I’m on-the-bones-of-my-arse level skint at the moment? Because you bet your ass I am. All of the money I am managing to earn from freelancing (which is barely anything) is going towards my Italy trip at the end of August and until I get a summer job, living thrifty is how I will have to continue.
But it also something I want to continue. I’m awful with money and I need to grow up a little and be more responsible. Less pouring my money into ASOS orders and random sprees around Primark and instead snapping up statement and important pieces that can hang in my wardrobe forever.
I’m currently going through that phase where I hate everything in my wardrobe. I’m at a bit of a loss of what my ‘style’ is in the sunnier months (despite declaring 2018 my year of living stylishly) and would quite happily mooch about in sweatpants and flip-flops for the rest of eternity.
Today I sat my final university exam for third year so it is officially summer in my eyes now kids. I’m heading off on my holidays on Wednesday to beautiful Amsterdam and Sweden and whilst I won’t have any new clothes in my suitcase as I’m so skint, a girl can dream right?
I’m typing this up on and making the edits on the 28th of February. Tomorrow is the first of March. And today, Glasgow has been utterly obliterated by the Beast of the East. We’ve been sledging on a plastic lid and IKEA bags whilst Rachel tried to kill herself by going down a hill in Kelvingrove Park in her inflatable duck.
In an effort to make myself feel a bit more summery whilst there is a snowstorm blowing outside, I decided to work on a wish list for Ibiza. I can’t really afford to buy any new clothes so only gonna treat myself to maybe a bag, midi dress and some sandals but a girl can dream yes?
