6 Edinburgh ‘Experiences’ To Gift This Christmas

We all have someone we don’t know what to get for Christmas. Or maybe you’ve got something exciting planned in Edinburgh yourself for the new year so maybe this could be a gift for you. I believe it is impossible for someone to go Christmas shopping and not buy themselves a Christmas gift or six.

Maybe your best pal is just impossible. Or your dad. Or your boyfriend. Maybe you’ve booked a sneaky post Christmas break to Edinburgh and need things to do that don’t involved spilling all your money into Primark because whoops, that top looked nice when you popped in to shelter from the rain.*

Travel Notes | Peebles & Biggar

The last few weeks have been hectic and the next couple are promising to be the same so when the opportunity arose to a little back to have a welcome rest in the midst of it all the The Elphinstone in Biggar I was all ‘hell yes about it’.

I was glad of the chance to escape for the weekend without my laptop and a good friend for company. We decided to make a little weekend trip out of it and explore what our back doorstep really has to offer.

3 Of The Loveliest Places To Eat In The Scottish Borders

Since I’ve been spending this summer at home, I’ve been trying to revert to being a tourist in my own area and seeing things a little differently. Whilst the Scottish Borders are not Glasgow, it doesn’t mean there aren’t things to see and do and places to eat! Although I’ve been working during the week, I have had weekends off for exploring and grabbing a bite to eat!

I thought I’d share three of my favourite places if you are in the area, all tried and tested by me. Going out of my way to eat at places so I can share, you know me, I’m a kind soul. I was intending to include another place: Hugo’s Wine Bar in Duns but the photographs I took were just so dreadful I just can’t. Not that I’m a perfect pants at photography but honestly, I don’t know what went wrong with these ones, bit ashamed if I’m honest.

3 Things I Learnt Whilst Travelling On My Own

When I say travelling, I mean catching a bus and two flights by myself in a foreign country. I didn’t spend four weeks or heck, even a night away, on my own in another country but I did something different and new to me, off the back of a very difficult decision which flipped my summer plans around.

I started my day of travelling home at 7.30 when I left my camp to head to the nearest city, Morganstown, to a catch a bus to Pittsburgh airport. At 8.30, I was on said bus on the hour and a half journey to Pittsburgh airport. From there I managed to check-in with only the flight number as my camp agency booked the flights for me and found myself with a good six or seven hours until my flight to JFK.

It Doesn’t Always Have To Work Out – And That’s Okay

My last blog post explained why I wouldn’t be blogging this summer, that I would be spending almost 3 months in West Virginia working on a summer camp and as a result, would be giving up my blog for the summer as it just wouldn’t be feasible.

Well surprise, I’m back. I could give you a hundred reasons why I’m not spending my summer on that camp but it all boils down to the fact I’m simply wasn’t all that happy. Yes I could have stuck it out longer. Yes I could have tried harder. Yes it was expensive and I should have thought things through a lot more.
