How I’m Keeping My Fake Blonde Hair ‘Blonde’

How I’m Keeping My Fake Blonde Hair ‘Blonde’

I am natural dark brunette and I had this style for about 18 years of my life. Until one summer when I was feeling flush (those were the days) I decided I would go blonde despite stark warnings from my friends. I did it anyway and I’ve been a fake blonde for nearly two years now and I’m not bored of it yet.

I’ve been going to Rebecca for my hair for years so naturally she is the one I trust with turning my dark brunette locks into golden ones. I waver towards being bleach blonde and having brassy hair is my biggest fear so it is super important to keep up the maintenance of the colour to avoid having 1970s porn-star hair.

Toning shampoo is your absolute best friend if you are trying to maintain bleached blonde hair. I can’t remember life before it. I often find the offerings in Boots are never as strong as I would like and are instead more ‘colour maintenance’ than ‘toning’ shampoo so I find online is your best chance at finding the perfect toner for you.

The Products

I’ve recently been using Noughty Blondie Locks Shampoo & Conditioner* which were kindly sent to me and I wanted to share it with you all. It smells freaking delicious for a start with hints of lemon and rhubarb which is pretty dreamy and makes me feel super clean and fresh when I use it.

I tend to use the shampoo around three-four times a week (every time I wash my hair) and so far it is keeping my hair blonde (bleached) and avoiding the brassier tones.

Previously when using toning shampoo I didn’t use a corresponding conditioner as I’m pretty loyal to OG one but the Noughty Blondie Locks conditioner is swaying me. Smelling just as delicious as the shampoo, it keeps my newly toned blonde locks feeling smooth and shiny.

Both the products are vegan and cruelty free which I love so they are accessible to everyone and are less expensive than other toning shampoos I’ve used at £6.99 each for 250ml. They are very cute lilac coloured bottles and have I mentioned they smell freaking great? You can pick them up from Superdrug, Ocado and FeelUnique.

It takes a lot for me to waver from my fave hair care products but these Noughty Blondie Locks are luscious and most importantly, keep my fake blonde hair looking very blonde.
